And, on the theory that IT transformation is being driven by storage virtualization, XenServer 4.1 is supposed to tightly integrate with native storage hardware starting with the NetApp Data OnTap operating system, a unified storage platform for virtualized environments and foundation for application-empowered data management to free physical and virtual servers to run business-critical application workloads, not storage-related tasks.
That'll give NetApp users thin provisioning, cloning, replication, and backup and recovery from the XenCenter management console.
Citrix has also created what it calls Delivery Center, an overarching new product brand for its delivery infrastructure systems: XenServer, XenDesktop, NetScaler and XenApp - and their various parts - along with a tool called Workflow Studio, built on .NET, PowerShell and Windows Workflow Foundation, to orchestrate communications across multiple Citrix and third-party products via easily linked graphical objects.
