Xiotech Corporation today announced several new customers have purchased Xiotech® Magnitude 3D® 3000 and Magnitude® 750 storage systems during the second quarter of 2007. New customers include Alaska Railroad Corporation, ISD (Independent School District) 15 – St. Francis (Minn.), The Minnesota Medical Foundation at the University of Minnesota, University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc., Saint Paul College and Wright County (Minn.).
The new contracts reinforce the appeal of the Magnitude virtualized platform for midsized organizations that are looking for a simple-to-manage storage system that can easily accommodate future growth.
Minnesota's Saint Paul College selected Magnitude 3D 3000e to support its VMware server virtualization initiative, migrating existing servers from a direct-attached storage environment to a virtualized storage area network (SAN) infrastructure. The college plans to reduce its server count from 30 to 10, with production and Exchange servers booting from the SAN.
"“Transitioning our data center to a virtualized environment was a strategic move for Saint Paul College," said Najam Saeed, CIO at St. Paul College. "The Xiotech system’s boot from SAN capabilities, storage virtualization, and VMware certifications were strong complements to our overall virtualization initiative."
