Are you Virtualized?



I spoke to a start-up (they will soon launch) CEO and CFO yesterday and everyone has Virtualization an Application Mobility on their lips. Loads of green talk and data center but the issues revolving around our current behavior patterns are more than just environment related. There are a lot of issues that affect our society and as an entrepreneur you need to really know and have something so close to your heart, that touches everyone's heart!

But still this blogger talks virtualization in his multi-part posts. He chose VMware as an obvious choice to Virtualize.

The big players in the virtualization world are VMware and Microsoft. Although I’m normally a big fan of Microsoft tools and technologies–I prefer the VMware tools when it comes to virtualization. Start with an installation of VMware Server and then load up one of the sample VMs available from the VMware Technology Network (for something small/simple try the browser appliance.)

Splunk that!

Saw this advert on Slashdot and went on to look for it and found the tour pretty neat to look at. Check out the demo too! So why would I need it? WHY NOT? I'd say. As an organization grows , new services, new data comes by, new logs start accumulating on the servers and it becomes increasingly difficult to look at all those logs, leave alone that you'd have time to read them and who cares about analysis as the time to look for those log files already makes your day, isn't it? Well a solution like this is a cool option to have your sysadmins/operators look at ONE PLACE and thus you don't have your administrators lurking around in your physical servers and *accidentally* messing up things there. Go ahead and give it a shot by downloading it and testing it. I'll give it a shot myself! Ok so I went ahead and installed it. Do this...
