Whats not to love about VMware. The products are cool and you have solutions that can fit every budget!

DC estimates that nearly 500,000 server boxes equipped with virtualization software will ship this year, up from just above zero three years ago. By 2009, the number of units shipped is expected to reach 1.2 billion, the research firm said. "I'm shocked by the level of adoption of virtualization," IDC analyst Michelle Bailey told a conference audience.

Opsware Inc. (NASDAQ: OPSW), the leading provider of Data Center Automation software, today announced the company's strategy for managing complex virtual server environments at the company's annual user conference, OPSWorld, held this week in San Jose, CA. During an opening keynote in which he demonstrated solutions for automating the management of tough IT assignments from VoIP networks to configuration management data bases (CMDB), CEO Ben Horowitz discussed the little understood challenges of managing virtual servers. This complexity created by the rapid adoption of server virtualization -- and the accompanying rise in server "images" to be managed -- has reached crisis proportions as IT departments struggle to keep up with the dramatically increased workload. Horowitz's keynote discussed and demonstrated the value that automation can deliver for environments virtualized with technologies such as VMware, Microsoft Virtual Server, Sun Solaris 10, XenSource and others, both in terms of setting up these environments as well as in the ongoing management of them.




Anyways I'm pretty darn sure VMware will come up with a smart answer on that (HECK they have it already, its called Virtual Center). They have a bunch of smarties , thats for sure.

Virtualization: GlassHouse hopes to cash in with its IPO!

GlassHouse Technologies Inc. on Tuesday registered to raise as much as $100 million in an initial public offering that, despite the company's financial losses, could prove a hit with investors drawn to its focus on "virtualization" technology. The Framingham, Mass., company offers consulting services for companies that use virtualization software to improve the performance of corporate servers and cut costs in their data centers. GlassHouse also provides Internet-based data storage. "Software-as-a-service," or SaaS, companies and vendors of virtualization products have proved popular among investors in recent years as corporate customers seek alternatives to conventional packaged software.
