Forums Buddies discuss VMware Server, ESX and Converter



Besides reporting all the news around the world, I think and strongly believe that crucial decision making takes place at forum level as well. This discussion is about choices between VMware Server and ESX and also the issue of Network Card during multiple conversions with the VMware Converter.

.....we use VMWare's P2V converter (for the reason that Kevin mentioned Smiley )
Once, when a physical server broke and wouldn't boot, we created a new VM and restored a backup to it. Suprisingly to us it worked (though I wouldn't recommend that approach for normal use).
Another little 'gotcha' when using VMware converter is that when booting it up on some servers the nic is set to half-duplex......
