The company said it had deployed server virtualisation from VMware and an energy-efficient San from Compellent that combines automated tiered storage, thin provisioning, and storage virtualisation.
The move was driven by demand for increased storage capacity, high availability, simplified data management, and business continuity assurance.
"Thanks to virtualisation we have been able to eliminate more than a third of the hardware from our environment," said John Boyd, IT manager at gm2 Logistics.
